A tragic incident unfolded in Kano State as a fire claimed the lives of seven family members, including parents and their five children, in Tudun Wada Bompai. The devastating incident occurred on Sunday night, January 14, 2024.
Alhaji Saminu Abdullah, an official from the Kano State Fire Service, reported that they received a distress call from Ibrahim Sani around 12:25 am, alerting them to a fire outbreak in Tudun Wada Quarters. Responding swiftly, firefighters arrived at the scene by 12:30 am.
Despite their efforts to rescue the family, seven victims were evacuated from the slightly burned rooms and rushed to the hospital. Tragically, all seven, including the father, mother, and five children, succumbed to the effects of the smoke they inhaled. The preliminary investigation indicated that the fire originated from an electric spark and had escalated beyond control by the time firefighters reached the site.
The Kano State Fire Service urged the public to exercise caution when handling electrical appliances and inflammable materials to prevent such tragic incidents and other emergencies. The community mourns the loss of the family, emphasizing the importance of fire safety awareness and preventive measures.
