Sadiya Umar-Farouk, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, did not comply with the summons to appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Jabi, Abuja. The EFCC had invited her for questioning regarding an alleged N37.1 billion fraud investigation.
According to a reliable source within the EFCC speaking to Channels Television, Umar-Farouk neither appeared in person nor was she represented by legal counsel during the scheduled appointment.
The former minister served during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari from August 2019 to May 2023.
