In a recent incident on November 13, 2023, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) faced a tense encounter with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in Kaduna. The EFCC had apprehended five individuals—Favour Itung, Rachael Ande, Zuleiman Haruna, Abubakar Ismaila, and Solomon Olobatoke—suspected of involvement in internet-related fraud.
However, the situation escalated when six military personnel, including four Air Force officers and two students from the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Technology, attempted to forcibly release the suspects. This attempt resulted in a standoff between the EFCC and the NAF officers.
Following the breach, the EFCC detained the NAF officers involved, with subsequent discussions between the EFCC and NAF leadership to resolve the matter.
