A social media influencer, Cross, has said that 70% of inmates in Kirikiri Women’s Prison, Lagos, are there for murder or manslaughter over boyfriends or husbands cheating on them.
“Visit the Kirikiri female prison in Lagos, built to accommodate 500 to 600 inmates, but have over a thousand there. 70% of that number are there for murder/manslaughter over boyfriend/husband cheating. 20% are for armed robbery and accomplices.

Reacting to the post, the founder of Ray of Hope Prison Outreach, said two young women were recently sentenced to life imprisonment for killing their boyfriends.
“I was in court the day they sentenced two girls 19-21yo to life imprisonment for killing their boyfriends. 80% of the ladies I’ve spoken to are charged for homicide. Ladies we need to work on our anger! If you can’t handle your man’s shenanigans, kindly leave,” she wrote.
