What Buhari Told Umahi After He Informed Him Of His Presidential Ambition

Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his intention to run for the presidency in 2023.

The governor disclosed this to journalists shortly after meeting the president at Aso Rock in Abuja on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

Umahi's visit to Aso Rock comes barely 24 hours after the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, said he had informed the president of his intention to contest the presidency.

The apex Igbo sociocultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, had earlier faulted Tinubu's declaration, saying that it is against the principles of natural justice and fairness.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo urged the former governor to drop his ambition and support an Igbo person to become president in 2023.

When Umahi was asked about Buhari's response after he informed him of his intention to run in 2023, he said the president told him to consult widely.

Umahi, who won his governorship election twice under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), joined the ruling party in November 2020.

Who do you think Buhari will support between Tinubu and Umahi?
