APC Chairmanship: No Alternative To Almakura, Says Northeast Group


Ahead of the national convention of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the Northeast Social Media Forum of the party has described former Governor of Nassarawa State, Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura as the only person capable of restoring people’s confidence in the party.

Coordinator of the Forum, Muazu Hina, during a press briefing in Gombe as well as presentation of an endorsement letter to the Director General, Tanko Almakura APC National Chairmanship Campaign Organization, Mr. Dominic Mancho, said the Forum believes Senator Almakura will sustain the tempo and winning spirit of the party.

According to him, “for us as a party, to sustain the tempo and spirit of the winning ways, the likes of Senator Almakura are not an alternative in the forthcoming APC National Convention but the only option before us”.

He said, what the party needs now is a highly intellectual, mobile and sagacious politician in the person of Senator Almakura to lead APC to glory once again as the next chairman.

He noted that even though the ruling party is being confronted with challenges, it should not be seen as the party’s weaknesses, but rather, as stages of development and success.

He said, “after extensive consultation with the party hierarchy, women groups, youth associations, stakeholders within the party in the northeast, the Forum has came to the conclusion that Senator Almakura is an experienced politician, equipped with knowledge and ability to take the party to greater height”.

“We believe that Almakura will offer an open-door policy and will keep to promise to be made in the course of our electioneering campaign coming soon in all geopolitical zones of the country”, he stressed.

Accepting the endorsement letter on behalf of Senator Umaru Tanko Almakura, the DG of Almakura campaign organization, Mr. Dominic Mancho expressed appreciation to the group for finding his principal worthy, adding that it was an honour and inspiration.

He assured that if elected as national chairman, Almakura would work hand in hand with all stakeholders to promote reforms that are necessary for strengthening the party.
