“Even In War Women Are Meant To Be Protected” - FFK reacts to the detention of Igboho's wife

Chief Femi Fani Kayode has again reacted to the detention of Sunday Igboho along with his wife. Recall, the Self-acclaimed leader of Yoruba nation agitators was arrested a few days ago in Cotonou, Benin Republic. His arrest has raised a lot of mixed reactions from Nigerians. While many have equally called for his release.

Following this, Fani Kayode has openly condemned the arrest and detention of Igboho's wife along with him. He went further stating that even if it's war women and children are untouched because they are meant to be protected & not targetted. This is a “height of wickedness”, because “up till now the lady is still in detention”.

Chief Kayode however appealed to the government authorities in both countries (Nigeria & Benin Republic) to expedite her release because she has never been accused of any crime. “Leave her alone! women & children of those we perceive as being our adversaries should NEVER be targetted for death, destruction, incarceration, torture, persecution, or humiliation”, he added.

In the case of her husband, he equally called both governments to respect the civil liberties and rights of Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka “Sunday Igboho”. Because his rights are protected under international laws and protocols, including the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights to which the Republic of Benin and Nigeria is a signatory.
