Fight Or Flight (Part One)

"Omo! Omo!" I looked towards the direction of the voice. There, Dad and Mom, smiling as they squeezed themselves pass people to get to me.

"Dad! Mom." I smiled as I hurried to meet them. Looking at the cardboard Dad held in his hand. With my name written bodily. "When are you guys going to stop this habit?"

"Maybe when my baby girl is older." Dad replied. We laughed. Hugging them
"I missed you both."

"We missed you too." Mom stepped back to take a look at me. "Haven't they been feeding you there, you look thinner."

"I've always been slim Mom. Cut it out" I said. Laughing. Taking my bag from me, i placed a hand on Dad's shoulder as we headed out of the airport to the car.

"So Dad. I heard you have this new stuff you've been working on." He looks at Mom. "Yeah. Your wife talks"
"Child!" Mom said. Disappointment written on her face.

"What? Mom am not selling you out. Its the truth isn't it?" I look at Dad as he unlocked the car. Dropping my bag in the booth.

"it's not something we should be discussing out here. Let's get you home, and Mom prepared our favorite." He winked at me. Getting into the car.

"For real?" I asked. Beaming with excitement. He starts the car.

"Yes I did, but since you decided to sell me out right now. You're not getting any." Mom replied. Dad laughed.

"No way. You probably want to see me fat before the end of the year." She laughed. I smiled. Feels good to be back home.

"No. I change my mind." Still laughing.

The nightmares again. The white shirt. Running so fast. I knew screaming for help would be in vain. Sweating profusely.

"Omo. Omo wake up, breakfast is.." I jerk up immediately, pointing the gun I hid under the bed at her. Breathing hard. She stands up quickly. Raising her hands up. I blinked fast, the sweats were entering my eyes. Realising it was Mom.

"Oh! My God. Mom." I dropped the gun. "I'm so sorry, I will never.." Stretching my hand to calm her. She moved back. I stopped.
"I understand. Breakfast is ready. I shouldn't have woken you up." She said. Heading to the door. I quickly put the gun back under the pillow.

"Let me shower. I'll be right down."
"Okay." She paused and turned back to look at me. "I love you." I looked at her. She wanted me to say something. Waited for me to say something.

"I'm sorry". I said. She looked away. Closing the door behind her. I stared at the door, minutes after she left, I was still in that position.

Rob parked his car in the garage. Still wearing his lab coat. Taking his case out of the car, he headed inside the house. I saw Nora sitting there with a glass of wine in her hand. Staring into space.

"There is my love." Going to meet her. I kiss her cheek.

"Still in your scrub?" She gives me that look. Shit! I didn't even know. I chuckled.

" I was so tired that I didn't even know where the time went and that I was still putting this on." I take it off. She stands, taking my case from my hand. I didn't like the look on her face.

"What's wrong? Did I keep you guys waiting. Where is Omo?" I asked her as we took the stairs to our room.

"In her room. Sleeping"
"Didn't see my baby before she slept." Entering the room. I drop my coat. Sitting on the bed to take off my shoes. She stood there, watching me. "I don't like the look on your face. You've been silent since morning.

 What's wrong?"
"Omo.." She paused. "That's not my daughter"
"What do you mean?" I stopped to stare at her. Tears in her eyes.

"I don't know what they did to her, but she is changed. She has changed Rob!" I stand. Unbuttoning my shirt.

"What do you expect babe. Our little girl has been in the army for say how long..eight years. What do you expect" Taking off my shirt, I headed to the wardrobe.

"This is all your fault!"
"How? I don't understand" I look at her.
"Yes! Its your fault. If you didn't encourage her..."
"What do you mean encourage her?"
"Yes you did!. If you haven't...She wouldn't be having this nightmares, staring into space. Or pointing a gun at me if I go to wake her!" Crying now.

"What! She pointed a gun..."
"If anything should happen to my daughter. Its all your fault!" She barked at me. Leaving the room. I followed her.
"Babe..Babe come on.."

"I'm sleeping here. Don't come after me." She closed the door. I stood there, hands on my waist. I looked Omo's door.
